The Importance of Clinical Standards and Guidelines

“Best practices are the use of fresh ingredients to achieve the best results. A process that often starts with a trip to the farmer’s market. Let APSO’s standards and the Hearing Aid Fitting Toolbox be your trip to Whole Foods or your favorite farmer’s market.”

As we all know, standards are important. APSO has been methodically creating practice standards for more than five years, although relatively few audiologists are aware of them. Currently, APSO has published three clinical standards, while at least three more are at some stage of the review process. Here, Brian Taylor of Hearing health & Technology Matters explains the processes behind their work.

It’s worth noting that this article is USA-oriented, where hearing aid dispensing is private and is therefore not applicable to people in the UK who are receiving NHS audiology and hearing aids.
